Fixed MacPro Bluetooth Antenna Problem

Three different views of the Apple MacPro

It has been reported earlier that Apple bungled the antenna wires for Bluetooth and Airport modules in the MacPro.

Having further read the posts on the Apple discussion boards, I realized that this was the reason that my new Wireless Mighty Mouse not working properly with my MacPro, while working just fine with three other laptops (two MacBooks and one Toshiba Tecra M2 running Windows XP).

I had suspected from the beginning that it had something to do with Bluetooth range, since the mouse was to my right, whilst the MacPro was to my left under the desk. My Apple Wireless Keyboard didn't exhibit any symptoms at first (it sits between the Wireless Mighty Mouse and my MacPro). However, in the past few days I've noticed occasional sluggishness when I type, and even some odd behaviour like dropping keystrokes.

I finally decided to apply the solution recommended by other users on the Apple discussion boards.

I first read, and re-read several times the message posted by "bosmacs" where the describes exactly what he changed in his system and the result. Right below his is annother posting, this one by John Kohn confirms what the correct positioning of the antenna cables should have been from the factory.

Having done a brief test with my Wireless Mighty Mouse, it now appears to be working correctly. (Though I'll still keep and continue to use my Logitech MX-1000 Laser Cordless Mouse instead)

Another issue that this appears to have resolved is that my T-Mobile MDA can now properly discover my MacPro, whereas trying to "beam" (silly term) files over Bluetooth to it before resulted in the MacPro not showing up (poor implementation by Microsoft. The two are paried, it should show up even if it's not discoverable).
