No More Windows!

Ban Windows Graphic

Last month I decided to ditch all of my Windows systems and go back to Mac.

It was 1996 when I seriously used a Mac. The first computer I ever bought was a Mac. My core is actually UNIX. Initially BSD, but for the past 10 years it's been Solaris. However, for my personal computers for some reason I moved away from Mac and to Windows. It wasn't really planned, it just happened.

Well, not for much longer.

I ditched the 5 year old PC I built myself and bought a new MacPro and an Apple 30" Cinema HD Display (Wow!!). I also bought two MacBooks, one white, one black. Both of the "extreme" (Apple's term for 1GB RAM and 80GB disk) config. Gave them to my daughters.

I just have one Windows system left. A Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop (which belongs to my employer). When Apple rev the MacBook Pro with Core 2 Duo, I think that will get retired as well. :)

So. What's next? I'm going to start writing about my transition experience and the software that I'm selecting.

Goodbye Microsoft. May you BSOD in hell.
