Evening Light

So I picked up a new lens today... not that a lens makes ALL of the difference, but I'm really amazed what difference it does make. Of course, the light this evening was much better than this morning.

The above photo is untouched, just exactly as I took it out of the camera. Much better than the one I took this morning.

While it doesn't have the same level of blur in the background as I created this morning with The GIMP, the light is so much better.

However, here's a good example of DoF (Depth of Field) from another picture taken within moments of the above:

And then later this evening, I took this one which really shows off the DoF effect of the lens:

This one has been cropped and lightened up a bit in Aperture.
