I've been looking for this solution for a long time. A wireless mouse that doesn't require a stupid USB dongle. Bluetooth mice have been around for a while. However, there haven't been many of them and none which I liked. Some were just plain ugly or ridiculously expensive.
The Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse is fairly inexpensive, very well designed, sleek and can be powered off and stowed in your bag without fear of turning itself back on when bumped by something (unlike a lot of other Bluetooth devices I have).
While I'm not thrilled with the Wireless Mighty Mouse as a general purpose desktop mouse (I prefer my Logitech® MX™1000 Laser Cordless Mouse for that), it does make a perfect laptop mouse.
I'm using it with a Toshiba Tecra M2 running Windows XP. I have the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack installed (Microsoft's is too simplistic). When I paired the two, Windows automatically picked up the Toshiba HID Profile for the mouse.
Not all of the features work. For example pressing the center roller button does not trigger an event. I can scroll vertically but not horizontally. And the side buttons don't work.
However, both the left and right clicks do work. In fact, apple designed this mouse ingeniously. It appears to have only one button, but there are sensors on the left and right side, so you can right and left click.
I like this mouse so much for laptops, I bought two for each of my two daughters (so they don't have to carry them around) to use with their MacBooks. However, on my MacPro at home, I prefer the Logitech MX-1000 Laser. The precision and buttons on it are still superior.
Bottom line: The perfect travel mouse (if your laptop has built-in Bluetooth)
