Working in Aperture

Apple Aperture Logo

Today was a rather cloudy day in Atlanta after the rain stopped. I did a bit of photowalking around Midtown and came up with what I thought were half a dozen or so decent shots (out of many more).

I then did some work in Aperture to bring out some of the detail (all my shots are in RAW). Aperture makes this really easy.

Here are two examples of before and after. The latter link to their respective locations on my Flickr page.

"Vanishing Point"

Note the difference in the clouds.

"Tilt"

After:

IMG_2893 - Version 2

Note the difference in the clouds, color of the building and glass, and the contrast.

Adjustments I applied were:

• Auto Levels (Separate)
• Straighten
• Crop (1st image only)
• Highlights (increase shadow to 100%), this brought out the clouds
• Add contrast
• Edge sharpen (1st image only)

You can also view these in the Atlanta set on Flickr, or see my slideshow.
